Thanks to the discovery of the last monastic communities producing wine in France, this documentary confronts the secular and material character of wine with its sacred character. Guided by Jean-Robert Pitte, geographer and specialist of the French vineyards, we set out to discover men and women united by faith, the teachings of Christ and the wine tradition which, from Provence to the Montagne Sainte-Victoire to Languedoc, passing through Burgundy, cultivate these abbey wines piously. Surprising medieval survivals, these wines call as much to meditation or prayer as to communion with Christ... and with the elements. These wines are the result of the symbolic and material incarnation of the presence of Christ and the means to approach and feel the presence of God. Focused on the spiritual life and wine-making work of nuns, but also on the ritual of the Eucharist in these monasteries, this documentary highlights Brothers and Sisters who perpetuate a millennia-old tradition. They invite us to share their daily life, to commune with them to better discover the Vineyards of the Lord...
